A disco and club classics evening at a bar in St Albans has raised more than £1,300 for the charities, Help for Heroes and Motor Neurone Disease.

Star names such as DJ Nicky Holloway and Miss Jo Lively offered their services for a night of ‘old-school’ anthems at the Saint Bar in St Albans and kept the 120 people dancing all night long.

Manager Chris Good, whose father had died from motor neurone disease, said: “I’d like to thank everyone involved in putting the event on and everyone who came. The night industry gets a lot of criticism so I hope this shows a more positive side as well.”

Many people were happy to pay the £10 ticket price, with some opting to pay double and contribute to the charities - according to Chris, one lady paid four-times the asking price.
