People are invited to see the St Albans Rock Choir sing Christmas carols in celebration of the return of festive lights in a historic street.
Christmas lights have been reinstalled along George Street in the conservation area for the first time in six years.
The decorations stopped being a feature of the road because of safety fears – their disappearance coincided with the start of St Albans School using double-decker buses to transport pupils down the narrow street.
But local shops recently successfully banded together to have the lights put up again, and now that hooks supporting the lights have been placed higher up the buildings, the decorations have returned to brighten up George Street.
A spokesman for the businesses said that people were invited to the street from 3.30pm next Saturday, November 28, to listen to carols and visit shops, restaurants and bars – many of which are independently owned.
