A ST ALBANS hostelry has been named as pub of the year by the local branch of CAMRA - Campaign for Real Ale.
The Six Bells in St Michael's Street is a free house run by Jo Marrion and Patrick Remmington which serves its beer in over-sized glasses to ensure a full measure every time.
It offers home-cooked food and provides entertainment as a key feature with women's and men's darts team, a football team and occasional quiz and cards nights.
The South Herts branch of CAMRA chose the pub as its overall winner with The White Lion in St Albans and the Elephant and Castle in Amwell among those highly commended.
