A crowdfunding event at St Albans Museum + Gallery raised more than £10,000 for charity.
The fundraising initiative was held at the museum and gallery on Thursday, September 13, with charities giving six-minute talks to explain what support they need.
St Albans-based charity Earthworks pitched their plan to launch a new service, Earthworks on Wheels, which will see adults with learning difficulties tending the gardens of elderly residents. The money raised at the event will provide the required equipment to launch their two-month pilot scheme.
Another charity to benefit from the event was Small Acts of Kindness, who will use the money to make sure 150 older people in Herts are warmer and less isolated during winter. Finally HACRO, a charity which rehabilitates offenders, raised money for their ‘Caring Dads’ scheme which helps previously abusive dads reingage with their children.
