Singaporian pupils celebrated their school’s centenary by planting a ceremonial tree in St Albans.
The Nanyang Girls High School exchange students are planting 100 shrubs around the world to mark a century since their school founded.
One has been planted in the St Albans High School for Girls (STAHS) sports pavilion, chosen after Year 11 high school students spent two weeks with the Nanyang teens in Singapore in July 2017.
The group enjoyed lessons with their partners and visited the Singapore National Design Centre to see 3D printing.
In return, the partners are now visiting St Albans. One exchange teen said: “The people here are really kind and helpful, and the high school classes are much smaller and more interactive than in Singapore.”
STAHS headmistress Jenny Brown said they are honoured to receive the tree: “The tree planted on our sports ground will be nurtured as a marker of our international friendships.”
