An incident near to St Albans city centre which left two men in hospital has been confirmed as a stabbing.

The police were called at 2.40am on Sunday to a disturbance on Catherine Street and found two men in their 20s with what was believed to be stab wounds.

They were taken to hospital, but their injuries are not deemed to be life-threatening.

Today, Herts police have confirmed the men sustained stab wounds.

No arrests have yet been made, but Det Con Claire Mann said: “I am appealing for anyone who saw the incident, or events leading up it, to please get in contact.

“Thankfully the men were not more seriously injured during the incident. We are currently working to establish the circumstances around what happened and trace those involved.”
