ST ALBANS: Five cars were damaged in a spate of vandalism along a city road between Christmas and New Year.

All the damage occurred in Colindale Avenue between December 27 and 29 although police believe that the incidents happened at around 3am last Wednesday, December 29..

They all involved the snapping off of wing mirrors, in four out of the five incidents on one side only but on the fifth, a VW Golf, on both sides.

The other vehicles damaged were a blue Fiat Panda, a Vauxhall Astra, a silver Ford Puma and a silver Saab convertible.

Police are appealing to anyone who saw any suspicious activity in the area or people running away from Colindale Avenue to contact them or if they think they can identify those responsible.

Pc Dean Mason, from the St Albans Neighbourhood Team, said police were linking the crimes and added: “We are very fortunate in St Albans that these kinds of incidents do not happen often but when they do we are keen to crack down on them.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact him on the non-emergency number 0845 33 00 222.
