A TEMPORARY car parking deck proposed for a busy shopping centre during the Christmas rush is unlikely to get off the ground.

Sainsbury's had applied for permission to put up the deck over part of the existing car park at Colney Fields shopping centre in London Colney.

But planning officers, following concerns voiced by the parish council and Herts Highways, are recommending refusal at a meeting on Monday.

They feel that insufficient information has been provided about the 57-metre by 70-metre deck which would be in place for six weeks.

They are urging St Albans plans (south) committee to refuse it on the grounds of possible impact on highway safety and the free and safe flow of traffic.
