A CANNABIS factory has been discovered by police officers at an address in St Albans while carrying out a raid for another crime.

Police made the discovery at a house on Richard Stagg Close where they arrived with a warrant relating to 17 criminal damage offences on cars in Drakes Drive and Russett Drive between Friday April 15 and Saturday April 16.

Officers found 104 cannabis plants in the property, with an estimated street value of £5,000. The plants were seized and a 46-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of cultivating cannabis and the criminal damage offences.

The man is now on police bail with strict conditions which includes a curfew between 7pm-7am. He will answer bail on June 30, 2011.
