A CANDELABRA of great sentimental value to its owner was stolen from his car overnight last Saturday.

Duncan Barron, who was in the process of moving from his home in Slimmons Drive, St Albans, to Northampton had packed up his blue Ford Focus and left it in nearby Chalkdell Fields.

But when he went back to the car on Sunday morning, he found a window had been smashed and a number of items stolen, including the candelabra.

Around a foot high, it is silver in colour and has three candle holders. It was about 80 years old and given to Duncan by his great aunt.

He believes it has little financial value but is of great sentimental value to him.

Other items including electrical goods, letters and cards were taken but it is the candelabra Duncan is particularly keen to have returned.

He believes that the thief might have used a beige hessian bag with NHS Ethics written on it to stash the stolen items because he found the items from the bag scattered around the car.

Anyone who has seen the bag, the letters and particularly the candelabra is asked to get in touch with Duncan who is offering a reward for information leading to recovery.

He can be contacted on 07969 687934.

Police are appealing for anyone who might have information about the theft to contact them on the non-emergency number 0845 3300222 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
