RESIDENTS of an estate have finally had their four-year wait for a bus come to an end.

UNO Bus started running its long awaited 359 service into the Napsbury Park Estate, in London Colney, two weeks ago. The route begins at Colney Fields Shopping Centre, follows St Anne's Road, Shenley Lane, Napsbury Park, Kings Road and then ends at St Peters Street in St Albans.

A bus service was supposed to start serving the Napsbury Park Estate when it was built four years ago. But bus company UNO refused to run the service because speed humps installed in Goldring Way - the main road through the estate - were too high for its buses.

After negotiations, the humps were removed by the estate developer Crest Nicholson in October last year but a dispute between the developer and Herts County Council about adopting the estate's roads delayed the bus service from starting sooner.

The first bus from Napsbury Park to St Albans leaves at 7.20am, arriving at City Station at 7.35am and St Peters Street at 7.40am and runs hourly. The final service to St Albans is at 6.33pm, and there is no service on Sundays.
