The building company behind a major new city centre development has presented a cheque for £500 to a St Albans charity.

Kaya Gupta, of Collinson Hall, handed over the cheque to the St Albans and District Foodbank on behalf of Meyer Homes which is developing the former Eversheds site in London Road, now known as Gabriel Square.

Kaya organised the donation and joined others in volunteering at Tesco in St Peter’s Street to encourage shoppers to donate food and daily essentials.

Emma Dalton, manager of the foodbank, said the money would help with the charity’s rent on its warehouse facility. She thanked Meyer Homes, Tesco and the local community for their generosity.
