An eclectic group of musicians, including a Harpenden teacher, have banded together to release a charity single and help refugees.

Rock guitarists, a cellist and a drummer have covered Buddy Miller’s Wide River to Cross in aid of UNICEF.

Sam Evans, who is a drumming teacher at Sir John Lawes, said he had the idea when he remembered the anniversary of the Syrian child washed up dead on the beach.

Adding: “But then one year on, everyone was so focussed on Brexit and Trump that no one was talking about refugees anymore.”

Other band members are Louise Bowler on vocals, Seb Wesson on acoustic guitar and Adam Evans playing the slide guitar. The band were helped by Alive Network and Jacket Records.

The iTunes track is out on July 21.
