Since his death last week, tributes have been pouring in for former Strictly Come Dancing host Sir Bruce Forsyth.

It’s a little-known fact the King of Saturday Night used to live in St Albans.

Sir Bruce, who also presented the Generation Game, lived on Admirals Walk before hitting the big time on Sunday Night at the London Palladium.

Bob Golding, who portrayed Sir Bruce’s one-time co-star Eric Morecambe in a play of his life, said: “We are losing a generation of legends. Bruce Forsyth was, and will remain, one of the greatest showmen this country has ever produced.

“I was filming at the old BBC TV centre when he and his entourage walked towards the stage door. His presence was palpable and all the folk he passed by were smiling. He had that effect on us all.

“If justice prevails, the wonderful legacy of Bruce Forsyth will live for more generations to enjoy. He really did do well didn’t he?”
