British Transport Police are looking to speak to a man in connection with an assault at St Albans Station.

The assault took place at around 5.35pm on Monday, September 11, when the victim, a member of rail staff, spoke to a man who was smoking on the platform.

The man became aggressive, shouting at and threatening the victim. When the member of staff called the police, the offender headbutted him in the side of the face.

Investigating officer PC Jackie Gray said: “This victim was violently assaulted simply for trying to do his job.

“Luckily the victim managed to steady himself, or else he would have fallen backwards onto the tracks where he could have been seriously injured.

“Offences like this on the rail network are rare and so we are working to establish who the offender is and bring them to justice.”

If you recognise the man, please contact the British Transport Police (BTP) on 0800 40 50 40 or text 61016, with reference 208 of 21 December.
