KARATE duo STRIKE, who appeared on the hit TV show Britain's Got Talent, will be appearing at a local leisure centre this weekend to encourage people to be more active.

Harpers Fitness is holding a Get Active Family Fun weekend at all their centres in the St Albans district, which will provide information on how to get fit and healthy in 2009.

Liam Richards and Danny Ball of Strike, who made it through to the finals of the talent contest, will be at Harpenden leisure centre between 3.30pm and 4.30pm on Saturday.

Working with Harpers Fitness, the pair have devised a new martial-arts programme aimed at five to 16 year-olds called Harpers Strike, available at all the company's centres.

The programme, delivered by trainers hand-picked by Strike and Harpers, fuses together structured marital-arts training and pre-choreographed performances set to music.

During each of the three terms, the classes will learn a new set of moves which are complemented by a teaching DVD so that they can practise at home.

For more information about the weekend, visit www.harpersfitness.co.uk or contact your local leisure centre.
