A PUB hosted a day of music to raise money for two worthwhile charities.

The Gate in Bricket Wood held the Rock in the Wood event featuring a range of local acts and raised more than 4,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support and St Albans charity Centre 33.

Those that performed included St Albans Elvis-impersonator Elvis Shmelvis, bands from Kidzzrock and local rock band Blind Eye to name just a few, and guests were also invited to join in with a Zumba session.

The idea for the Rock in the Wood event came from local resident Larry Putt who approached Stuart McClinton with the initial idea to promote the image of Bricket Wood at the same time as raising money for good causes.

The pub, run by landlady Samantha Pyne, agreed to host the event, a number of local people joined the organising committee and numerous local businesses provided sponsorship.
