A fun run at a primary school prompted by the plight of brave pupil Gabriella Farrugia has raised £1,647 for Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH).
Just days before the end-of-turn fun run at Wheatfields Junior School in St Albans, Gabriella, 11, spoke to an assembly about the condition from which she suffers, Juvenile Dermatomyositis (JDM)
A rare chronic auto-immune disease which affects three in one million people, it has resulted in her spending long periods at GOSH.
The fun run saw children tackling 90 laps of the school field and a delighted Gabriella presented the money to GOSH before starting on 14 hours of drug infusions.
