Morecambe actor Bob Golding brought his one-man show home to St Albans for a final production in front of the late comedian’s family and friends.

Bob, who lives in St Albans, has been on the road touring the biographical play since March, but came back to the Alban Arena on Sunday.

The sell-out show was watched by Eric’s widow Joan, children Gail and Gary, Dee Braben, the widow of Morecambe and Wise writer Eddie, and Ernest Maxim, legendary producer-director and choreographer of The Morecambe and Wise Show.

The audience was treated to a spectacular final performance of the critically acclaimed production, complete with a singalong of the Morecambe and Wise classic ‘Bring Me Sunshine’.

It was followed by a question and answer session with Bob, director-producer Paul Hendy, playwright Tim Whitnall and Gail Morecambe.

Bob, who received a rapturous standing ovation following the performance, said afterwards: “I can say with pride that I couldn’t be more thankful to our St Albans audiences, the Arena was the perfect venue to start and end this tour. I just hope that by performing a play here will encourage more theatre drama in the city like what we did.”
