BLACK ice led to the closure of a main road linking St Albans and Hatfield on Sunday morning.

Police blocked both ends of Coopers Green Lane from 7.55am until 11.06am after a motorist had called to report that her car had slewed across the road and she had seen a bus skidding.

A highways team came out to treat the ice before the road reopened.
