Police are trying to trace the owner of a dog which attacked a man last week.

The alsatian, which was on a lead, lunged for the 18-year-old as he walked past in Westfield Place, Harpenden, at around 6.45pm last Wednesday.

The dog, which was a grey/brown colour, bit the Harpenden man on the leg, causing injuries which required hospital treatment.

Police want to speak to the woman walking the dog, who is described as white, aged between 40 and 50, around 5ft 5ins tall and of a medium build. She was wearing a green jacket.

PC Marc Capicotto is investigating the incident and said: "This was a distressing attack for the man, who has sustained injuries as a result."
