A NEW proposal for the development of 150 homes on a former playing fields site has been lodged with St Albans District Council.

Hallam Land Management, which owns the former St Albans School playing fields land in King Harry Lane, has submitted an outline application for 150 homes on the remaining 12 acres of the 20-acre site.

The company has already got permission for a major retirement scheme to include a 40-bed care home with community facilities, 45 extra care/assisted living apartments and 65 age-restricted homes for people over the age of 55.

It won the go ahead for the eight-acre retirement development after a public inquiry.

Access to both the proposed housing development and the retirement scheme would be from a new roundabout on King Harry Lane.

Objectors have 21 days to respond to the application which was lodged with the district council on December 29.
