AS MOST people pulled out their winter coats to greet the change in weather yesterday, three fun-loving fundraisers in St Albans sat in a bathtub full of cold beans to raise cash for Barnardo’s.
Post Office branch manager Eugene Langlais and fellow workers Geoff Fellows and Steve Holmes, all volunteered for the barmy stunt to raise money for the Post Office 1,000 Challenge for Barnado’s, which will see disabled, ultra-distance athlete Chris Moon MBE run a distance of more than 1,000 miles during September.
The trio took it in turns to sit in the cold outside St Peter’s Street Post Office whilst people were encouraged to pay for a can of baked beans to pour over them. Mayor of St Albans, Councillor Maxine Crawley, met with the fundraisers and championed their cause with a can of beans, which she kindly tipped over them.
