BBC broadcaster and journalist Vanessa Feltz, dubbed “officially the hardest working woman in broadcasting” by the Guardian, entertained the local business community at the sell-out Chamber of Commerce St George’s Day Lunch last Friday.

The controversial TV and radio presenter had the audience howling with laughter as she gave anecdotes and stories about her career and the people she has worked with over many years in showbiz. “Who would’ve known this would be so much fun?” she quipped.

Around 350 guests enjoyed a patriotic afternoon of networking, drinking and making new business contacts at Sopwell House Hotel, while raising funds for Guide Dogs for the Blind St Albans and Bereavement Matters (St Albans Bereavement Network).

The event was sponsored by The Maltings Shopping Centre, and centre manager Phil Corrigan said: “We are delighted to be supporting this wonderful event with St Albans Chamber of Commerce, it is fantastic to have raised over £16K for Guide Dogs for the Blind St Albans. We’re very happy to play a part in that.”

Executive director of the Chamber Lisa Bates-Wallis said: “We all had a thoroughly good time on Friday, well done to Sopwell House Hotel for impeccable service yet again. I would like to thank all of our event sponsors - their support makes these events possible. The event sold out in one hour this year so if you would like to join us attend in 2018 book early, it is literally the hottest ticket in town!”
