There is going to be a family open day this weekend to mark the opening of a new Batford Springs visitor centre.

The Nature Reserve Centre on Lower Luton Road is being opened on Saturday, May 12 at 11.30am by Harpenden town mayor Rosemary Farmer.

There will also be a range of activities between 11am and 3pm, including stream dipping, bug hunting, wildlife crafts and guided tours of the reserve.

Batford Springs volunteer group chair Ian Denholm said: “The new Batford Spings Nature Reserve Centre will be a huge asset as we continue to improve the quality of wildlife habitats on the reserve.

“We thank Harpenden Town Council for their generous support and encouragement, and look forward to welcoming and guiding visitors during the open day.”
