A HARPENDEN businesswoman was invited to open a new adventure trail and garden at a nursery school – and she responded by holding a workshop for the children.

Angie Coates, founder of Monkey Music, opened the new facility at Batford Nursery School and hosted a workshop for children and parents using music to highlight the sights and sounds found in nature.

The creation of the adventure trail was jointly funded by Batford Nursery and Skylarks Daycare as well as receiving a contribution from the Waitrose supermarket local community scheme.

Angie, who launched her first Monkey Music classes in London in 1993 and has seen it grow into a popular franchise with more than 50 franchisees and headquarters in Harpenden, said: “I was delighted to be asked to open this beautiful outdoor space for children. It’s also been great fun creating a special Monkey Music workshop exploring Batford Nursery’s lovely garden and all the textures and features of nature.”

Madelaine Lee, head teacher of Batford Nursery School, added: “We are thrilled to be working with Monkey Music to support the opening of our Adventure Trail – we have great admiration for what Angie and the team have achieved at Monkey Music.”
