A LOW-FLYING hot air balloon came in to land in Harpenden last week.
The balloon from Stevenage is thought to have lost altitude when the wind fell and eyewitness, Max Lashley, said he saw it dropping over the Batford area before it finally landed in a field just off Cooters End Lane.
He said: “It was obviously struggling to stay up and I couldn’t help but follow it. When I got there I was quite surprised to see about 15 people who had been travelling in it. They tried to take off again but it proved too difficult.”
The balloon reportedly attempted a second take-off but was unable to get off the ground.
The passengers were then collected by a minibus.
