TWO MEN are in custody and police are trying to trace a third person after an attempted break-in at a barn in Harpenden in the early hours of Tuesday morning. (31)

Officers were called at around 2.45am to Bower Heath Lane to reports people were trying to gain entry to the barn.

The dog unit and police helicopter were called to the scene and shortly afterwards two people, a 22-year-old man from Hounslow and a 24-year-old man from Harrow, were arrested. They remain in custody being questioned.

Det Sgt Nina Yuill, who is investigating, said: “I appreciate the area is quite rural and the incident occurred in the early hours but I would like to appeal to anyone in the area who may have heard or seen anything suspicious. We believe there may have been a third person and I am keen to trace them.”
