Three days worth of free arts and crafts drew children of all ages to paint, model and colour.

St Stephen parish council’s three day Crafts in the Park event at Greenwood Park, Chiswell Green, attracted more than 50 children each day.

Glass painting, clay modelling, sand pictures, sun catchers, and ceramic leaf painting were among the activities that entertained the crowds of children.

Mrs Lisa Beckford, whose children Aisha, five, and Cameron, nine, tried out lots of different crafts, said: “It’s an amazing opportunity for children to experience different arts and crafts outside in the fresh air.

“It was great that the children could try crafts that they wouldn’t necessarily be able to do it at home.”

The event was organised as part of the Love Parks Week, and artwork from the three days will be displayed in the park across the summer.

All crafts were provided by the parish council free of charge with the aim of encouraging people to visit and enjoy the park more often.

The event comes after the park was awarded the Green Flag by Keep Britain Tidy in 2013 for its strong community purpose.
