The incident broke-out near the Three Horseshoes Pub in Hatfield Road, Smallford at around 8.30pm on Tuesday (June 16).

Police are trying to establish what happened and are appealing for witnesses.

PC Rob Wood said: "We know there was an altercation between the driver - a 38-year-old Asian man - and a group of people and we would like to speak to anyone who may have witnessed it."

PC Wood is hoping that customers of the pub and the nearby petrol station, both of which are opposite Notcutts garden centre, may have witnessed the incident.
