GOLD and jewellery was stolen from a house in Bricket Wood after a break-in on Friday. (13)

It happened between 9pm and 10pm at a house in Oakwood Road where burglars got on to the premises through a side gate and climbed up to an insecure window to gain access.

After searching the house, they left with 11 gold coins and three gold pieces - similar to coins - a white and grey pearl necklace and a Cartier men’s watch in yellow and white gold with a silver metal strap.

Pc Chris Chadwick, of St Albans Police, said: “I would like to hear from anyone who saw anybody suspicious in the area at the time or anybody who has been offered any property for sale, especially the distinctive gold coins.”

Anyone who has seen the items or been offered them for sale are asked to phone the non-emergency number on 0845 33 00 222 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
