TREASURES of all shapes and sizes were sold on popular BBC show Antiques Road Trip when a St Albans auction room featured as the final filming location.
The show’s experts Anita Manning and James Lewis competed to make the most ‘dosh’ at Hertfordshire Auctions in Porters Wood recently but residents will have to wait until early next year to see who won.
Auctioneer Chris Small said the items that went under the hammer at the 21-year-old auction room for the show included an oil painting of Sir Walter Raleigh’s hunting lodge, a 19th-Century Cambridge rowing club oar, and a hundred-year-old brass plant pot which sold for £110 – one of the highest earning objects for the TV personalities.
Chris went on: “They were quite interesting items, quite different and out of the norm. It was just a lot of fun. On the day there was a real buzz in the sale room and it was a really enjoyable day.
“It was busy as lots of people wanted to be on TV. The sales room was packed.”
