The annual St Albans Steam and Country Show is taking place this weekend.

The popular family event organised by the Herts Steam Engine Preservation Society will be held at the Smallford campus of Oaklands College following its success on the site last year.

Over 30 full size steam engines will be on show in addition to old farm tractors, classic cars and lorries, and other items from the industrial and agricultural heritage of St Albans.

Other entertainment will include a fairground, stalls and refreshments and there will be demonstrations of how the old equipment was operated. Visitors will be able to view a working sawbench, thrashing machine and stone crusher.

The event runs between 10am and 5pm on both days. Tickets are �6 for adults, �3 for children and �5 for seniors, or �15 for a family ticket. More information can be found on the website www.hertssteam.org.
