A MAN who collapsed this afternoon in a St Albans betting shop has died.

The incident happened at around 2pm in the William Hill betting shop on Chequer Street and an ambulance was on scene within half an hour.

An air ambulance which landed in Verulamium Park was on hand to rush the patient to hospital,although ambulance service spokesperson Gary Sanderson confirmed that the man was pronounced dead on scene.

He added: “I would like to pass on my thanks to the members of staff and the public in the betting shop at the time, for their help and assistance caring for the man prior to our arrival."
