The trade tools company wants to open a store across units 23 to 25 at the business centre, and have asked Dacorum Borough Council to grant a change of use for the units to Class B8, which would allow them to be used for storage and distribution.
The unit was previously used as an ATS Euromaster MOT centre, and has been advertised by Hartnell Taylor Cook with a lease that is due to expire in October 2028.
According to the property’s listing, the passing rent for the unit is around £85,000 per year.
Built in 2007, it has a front forecourt with parking for around 15 cars, and a mezzanine storage area inside.

If the plans are approved, the application suggests Screwfix would be open from 7am until 8pm on weekdays, from 7am until 6pm on Saturdays, and from 9am until 4pm on Sundays.
The application reads: “Screwfix Direct Limited would make a positive contribution to the commercial and community life of the area, providing essential trade counter services to local businesses including plumbers, electricians, builders and facilities departments to large organisations.”
A decision on whether to grant the change of use will be made by Dacorum Borough Council.
