Wheathampstead crews formed part of a large emergency response after two barns and a pair of fields were found well alight in Herts.
The fire broke out on Loudwater Lane, between Loudwater and Croxley Green, at 4.34pm on Wednesday (July 29).
Eight fire engines and specialist support units attended the scene.
Images published by Wheathampstead Fire Station show the extent of the response and the damage caused.
Assistant chief fire officer Andy Hall said: "Our crews worked hard throughout the evening and into the night to contain and extinguish this large fire that was threatening nearby buildings.
"I’d like to thank the firefighters on scene, and the staff in our control room, who managed this significant incident effectively."
Firefighters focused on protecting nearby buildings before bringing the fire under control.

Crews remained at the site until around 3am and returned the following morning to check for and dampen down hot spots.
The fire has since been recorded as accidental.
Officer Hall said hot, dry conditions have increased the risk of wildfires.
