A former hair studio in St Albans city centre may become an off licence in new plans.

An application targeting a premises licence for 10 Hatfield Road has been submitted to St Albans City and District Council.

Mr Hardip Singh Dang has applied for the licence on behalf of a business named St Albans Wines, Spirits & Beers.

If granted, it would permit the sale of alcohol for consumption off the premises from 6am to 11pm Sunday to Thursday and from 6am to 1am on Fridays and Saturdays.

St Albans Wines, Spirits & Beers would replace its predecessor Studio 10, which moved to 27 Chequer Street in April 2025.

Another convenience store has recently been approved at 97 St Peter's Street. This licence was hotly-contested by surrounding residents due to the sale of alcohol (off premises) between 6am and 2am Monday to Sunday, alongside matching opening hours.

Members of the public can view the application for 10 Hatfield Road at the council's offices or on its website.

Anyone wishing to comment must submit written representations by May 21. These can be sent by post to the council or by email to licensing@stalbans.gov.uk.
