The driver of a vehicle linked with thefts "fled" after being stopped by police in London Colney.

Members of the Beds, Cambs and Herts Road Policing unit chased a van heading through the village on April 21, after it was found to be on cloned plates.

The driver soon came to a stop in Shenley Lane and "decamped" the vehicle.

The van, which had also linked to thefts, was swiftly searched by the canine unit to recover anything identifiable.

Police dogs found the driver's ID and phone which they had left behind during their alleged escape.
