A huge plot of St Albans land, with planning permission for housing, has been put on the market at £4 million.

The 1.2 acre site lies off London Road and comes with a previous grant allowing any buyer to build five "luxury detached homes".

Floor plans for the properties show five-bedrooms with "generous" floor space and high-quality amenities.

Each home features an open-plan kitchen, dining and living area, as well as a living room, dedicated study and utility rooms.

The development will be accessed via a private gated drive and each property will benefit from a private garden, landscaped outdoor space and additional 250sqft garden room as well as off street parking and additional space for visitors.

Currently, the land features two derelict properties, but this is set to change after planning permission was granted by the district council in June 2025.

Estate agent Cassidy & Tate describes the development as "an outstanding opportunity to acquire a consented site in one of Hertfordshire’s most desirable locations".

"It situated just southeast of St Albans city centre, within walking distance of Sopwell House and just 1 mile from the vibrant city centre, offering excellent amenities, restaurants, and leisure including the Odyssey Cinema," a listing reads.

"This marks a rare chance to deliver a high-end residential scheme in a proven, high-demand market."
