Men charged with 'burglary' from St Albans DPD depot

Two men have been charged after posing as delivery drivers during a "high-value burglary" at a St Albans depot.

Gurpreet Singh, 25, of Coronation Road, Hayes and Sajanbreet Singh, 30, of Darwin Drive, Southall, were charged with three burglaries and one attempted burglary across locations in Cardiff, Gloucestershire, Basingstoke and St Albans.

Additionally, Gurpreet Singh has been charged with possession of an offensive weapon (knife).

According to police, last Sunday (March 22) two suspects posing as delivery drivers entered the DPD depot in Colney Street, driving a van on cloned plates.

After selecting two high value packages, they were challenged by staff before fleeing with the boxes.

Working alongside colleagues from the Met Police, officers located the suspects on North Hyde Road, Hayes, at around 8.40am and arrested them.

The pair are due to appear at St Albans Crown Court on Tuesday, April 21.
