Two Liberal Democrat councillors have resigned their seats on St Albans City & District Council, triggering by-elections.
Sharon Hollingsworth and Steve Cavinder have stepped down as representatives of Sandridge & Wheathampstead and St Stephen respectively.
Both councillors have resigned due to changing personal circumstances, the Local Democracy Reporting Service understands.
Paul de Kort, Liberal Democrat leader of the council, said: “Steve Cavinder and Sharon Hollingsworth have provided great support for their local residents and communities over the past three and four years respectively.

“We thank them both for all their hard work and for the commitment they consistently offered our local party.
“We Liberal Democrats are grateful for their continuing support and I wish them all the best for the future.”
By-elections to fill the empty seats will be held on Thursday, May 7, alongside regular elections for 20 other council seats.
