A learning disability and autism inpatient service has been rated outstanding across all areas by care inspectors.
Elm Ward, based in Hertfordshire and part of Hertfordshire Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust (HPFT), supports adults with learning disabilities and autism.
The Care Quality Commission (CQC) described the service as "exceptional" following its inspection.
Karen Taylor, chief executive of HPFT, said: "This is an outstanding result in every sense.
"To be rated Outstanding in all areas is rare, and it speaks volumes about the skill, compassion and commitment of our staff.
"The care we provide is making a real and lasting difference for people and their families."
The CQC praised the service for its individualised, person-centred care, delivered by passionate staff and backed by "strong, values-driven leadership."
The outstanding rating reflects care that helps patients recover, regain independence, and return to community living wherever possible.
Inspectors highlighted a robust learning and improvement culture and recognised close partnership working between ward teams and community intensive support teams.
The service was fully compliant with the national ‘Right support, right care, right culture’ guidance.
HPFT delivers inpatient learning disability and autism care at Elm Ward in Kingsley Green, Hertfordshire, Lexden Hospital in Essex, and Astley Court at Little Plumstead Hospital in Norfolk.
