Children launched homemade bottle rockets to kick off British Science Week activities at Bernards Heath Infant and Nursery School.
Youngsters in Year 1 and Year 2 gathered on Monday for an exciting demo by science fan Andrew Pearson, a Year 2 parent.
Using a large bicycle pump, the test rocket, made from a recycled plastic bottle, was blasted into the air, soaking teachers along the way.
Children then competed to see whose rocket travelled furthest.
The school said the rocket launch started a week of learning in science, maths, design and technology, computing, and sustainability.
The week saw children involved in various activities, including designing junk model marble runs, coding robots, exploring air pollution, and measuring the effects of idling cars outside the school, with help from Greenhouse Climate Club.
