The site of a former science and technology centre in Sandridge is on the market for £1.25 million.
The Home Office’s Centre for Applied Science and Technology (CAST) at Woodcock Hill has been put up for sale by estate agents Carter Jonas, a listing on Zoopla reveals.
It has been out of use since its closure in January 2017, when the government relocated its services as part of a cost cutting exercise.

The listing estimates that 6.1 out of the 26 acres of land has potential for redevelopment, with the current office, laboratory, storage and other buildings remaining intact. There are also 260 parking spaces within the site.
Any buyer will also be sold the site with vacant possession - the property is to be completely empty of all people (owners, tenants, squatters) and personal belongings.
Importantly, the land falls under Green Belt description too, potentially harming redevelopment prospects.
Much of CAST’s staff and their projects were relocated, to become part of the Ministry of Defence’s (MOD) Defence Science and Technology Laboratory (DSTL).
Scientists and engineers in Sandridge developed technological solutions to fight illegal activity, and supported the Home Office in policing and tackling crime, counterterrorism, border security and controlling immigration.
