Daniel Craig's new Knives Out film shot in Hemel Hempstead

Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery is currently in limited cinemas ahead of being released to the public on Netflix later this week (December 12).

Dacorum Borough Council has now confirmed that mysterious filming in the town centre was for the film, which sees Craig reprise his role as master detective Benoit Blanc.

Production took place in August 2024, with the Waterstones store shut for the day and black curtains put up after the shop was recommended by the Dacorum Film Office.

The code name "V2" was used on production signs to keep the identity of the project a secret.

A council spokesperson said: "Our filming lead officer coordinated the parking and support areas, including The Marlowes' service road, Riversides' service yard, and the old bus depot on Waterhouse Street.

"With everything positioned conveniently close, the production team enjoyed seamless logistics throughout their time in town, with absolute minimal inconvenience to our local businesses and shoppers."

The film is a mystery set in a small-town church that is hiding "a long and troubled past".
