The musical follows a group of teenagers in late 19th century Germany as they face the inner and outer tumult of sexuality, with a score swinging from rock to folk.

Director and choreographer Melissa-Rose Muirhead said: "It's an incredibly exciting challenge for us at SAMTC to put on Spring Awakening as it's such a unique and emotional piece of theatre.

"Not only that, the opportunity to perform it in an open air setting as part of OVO's Open Air Festival is one we grabbed with both hands.

"The cast and creative team have been working extremely hard and truly committing to the process, for which I am already incredibly proud and can't wait to bring it all together on the stage."

The show stars Laura Horton as Wendla, Guy Conroy-Smith as Melchior, Lily Tello as Ilse and Sam Jackson-Hale as Moritz.

Joining Melissa-Rose in the creative team are musical director Cam Wilson and conductor Susana Tierney.
