The programme includes works by Gabrieli, Brahms, Finzi and Stanford, with pieces for choir, brass and organ individually and in combination.

A spokesperson for the choir said: "The choir is delighted to be able to perform with Onyx Brass again as they add such an interesting dimension.

"For example, the Gloria by Giovanni Gabrieli was written for performance in St Mark’s Basilica in Venice in 12 parts – three choirs of four parts each.

"In this performance, choir three is performed by the brass quintet and this beautiful music is not usually heard in this exciting way."

Harpenden Choral Society was formed in 1975, and currently has around 75 members, with Vivien Powles as its rehearsal accompanist.
