Award-winning authors MG Leonard and Sam Sedgman are among the authors confirmed for this years St Albans children's book festival.

The event, now entering it's fifth year, takes place on Saturday, June 8 at St Albans High School for Girls.

Leonard, winner of the 2021 Sainsbury's best book award for her novel Twitch, headlines an impressive line up of authors.

Joining her will be Sam Sedgman, with whom she co-wrote the Adventures on Trains series, Manjeet Mann, author of novel Run, Rebel which was named one of The Guardian's best books of 2020, and a host of other names from the literary world.

Illustrator Amanda Quartey will also be in attendance. Her collaboration with Manjeet Mann for Small's Big Dream won the Readers’ Choice prize at the Diverse Book Awards 2023.

The day will see book signings and photo opportunities along with interactive workshops and storytelling sessions.

There will also be art and craft activities, a food court, pop-up book shop and an adventure playground.

The festival is growing in reach and popularity with over 1,000 guests attending last year's event.

Past names to grace the stage include David Baddiel, Simon Pegg and Nick Butterworth.
