The Mayor of St Albans has been spreading the word about his role in schools across the city.

Councillor Anthony Rowlands made 20 visits within his civic year, informing students about the history and duties of being mayor of St Albans City and District.

He also discussed his activities, such as attending St Albans City Youth FC awards, being at a model engineering exhibition, and participating in events to help homeless charities.

Cllr Rowlands said: "The opportunity I was given to talk to thousands of pupils across the district was one of the highlights of my time as mayor.

"It is important for their wider education that the next generation begins to understand the community of which they are such a vital part."
