Boys and girls from Harpenden's 10th Swift and Fox scout packs have raised £950 aiding Ugandan scouts in dire need.

Last autumn, the scouts found out about 40 boys and girls in eastern Uganda who wanted to join their nearest scout group, but had no way of getting any uniform or equipment.

They launched various projects over the next few months to help the Ugandan group, collecting money for uniforms and camping gear.

The scouts recently presented a £950 cheque to Wendy Howson, the trustee of Spotlight on Africa - a charity which is working with the scouts in Mbale, Uganda.

The new uniforms, tents and camping equipment have now arrived in Mbale, enabling the scouts to take part in the group.
